Eligibility

Who may be eligible

You may be eligible for a Home Energy Saver loan if:

Your household’s total taxable income is up to $210,000 a year

You own the property, as an owner-occupier or landlord

You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident

The property is not social housing or used for short-stay accommodation

You meet the provider’s credit assessment requirements

The upgrade meets the program’s approved upgrade requirements

Criteria are set by the program and the providers and can change. Check Brighte, Plenti or the NSW Government for full eligibility criteria.

How it works

From quote to repayment

1. Design and quote

We design your system from your bills, tariff and roof, and prepare a written quote. Applications are submitted through an accredited vendor, so we guide you through it.

2. Apply with a provider

You apply online with your chosen provider. The provider assesses the application against its eligibility and credit criteria.

3. Install and repay

Once the installation is complete and you confirm it, the provider pays us and you repay the provider over the loan term.

Rebates still apply. STCs and the federal battery rebate are applied to your system price as usual. The loan can finance the remaining cost, up to the program limit, subject to approval. We are an installer, not a credit provider, and we do not give financial advice.

Common questions

Home Energy Saver loan FAQ

What is the NSW Government’s Home Energy Saver loan program?

A NSW Government program that gives eligible households access to zero-interest, no-fee finance of up to $15,000 for approved energy upgrades, including solar and battery systems, repayable over up to 10 years. The loans are funded by the NSW Government and delivered by participating finance providers.

Who may be eligible?

You may be eligible if your household’s total taxable income is up to $210,000 a year, you own the property as an owner-occupier or landlord, you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, the property is not social housing or short-stay accommodation, and you meet the provider’s credit assessment. Full criteria are on each provider’s website and can change.

What can the loan pay for?

Approved energy upgrades under the program, which include solar systems, battery storage and solar + battery systems, as well as other upgrades such as heat pump hot water. Zero 4 Energy designs and installs solar and battery systems, and the system on your quote must meet the program’s approved upgrade requirements.

Can I still get the STC discount and the federal battery rebate?

Yes. STCs and the federal battery rebate are applied to your system price in the usual way. The loan can finance the remaining cost, up to the $15,000 limit, subject to approval.

How do I apply?

Applications are submitted through an accredited vendor, which is us. We design your system and prepare a written quote; you apply online with your chosen provider; the provider assesses the application against its criteria; once the installation is complete and you confirm it, the provider pays us and you repay the provider over the loan term.

Which finance providers can I use?

We currently offer Home Energy Saver loans through Brighte and Plenti. You choose the provider, and each assesses applications against its own eligibility and credit criteria.

Does Zero 4 Energy give financial advice?

No. We are an installer, not a credit provider, and we do not give financial advice. Whether a loan suits your circumstances is your decision to make with the provider’s information in front of you.

Home Energy Saver loans are funded by the NSW Government and delivered by Brighte. All applications are subject to Brighte’s credit approval criteria. Late payment fees, Terms and Conditions apply. Australian Credit Licence Number 508217
