Safety isn't a feature, it's the baseline

A solar installation puts electrical generation on your roof and ties it into the grid - which is why safety and standards are not optional extras but the foundation the whole job is built on. Every Zero 4 Energy installation is carried out by SAA-accredited installers, in strict compliance with workplace health and safety law, and designed to the relevant Australian Standards: AS/NZS 5033 for the array, 4777 for grid connection, 5139 for battery systems What that means for your wall., and 3000 for the wiring rules.

Our commitment to safe, standards-compliant work - across our own team and any subcontractors - is written into our Terms and Conditions of Trade, not just our marketing. We remain liable for the acts and omissions of our supply chain.

What 'to standard' actually means on your roof

Standards compliance shows up in the details a brochure never mentions: correct roof penetration and sealing so you never get a leak, proper cable management and clearances, isolation and labelling done to code, and commissioning that verifies the system against its design rather than just energising it. It's also why your switchboard is assessed before installation - older boards sometimes need upgrading to safely accept generation, and that's a question we answer at design time, not on the day.

You receive compliance documentation at handover. Keep it: it matters for your warranty and if you ever sell the property.

The approvals that shape your timeline

Before we install, your system needs grid connection approval from your network (Ausgrid or Endeavour in Sydney), which sets your export arrangement. We handle this application, along with metering and rebate paperwork. Some approvals - like Owners Corporation consent for an apartment or strata property - are yours to obtain, and we'll tell you clearly which is which.

Approvals are the single biggest variable in how long a project takes, which is why we start them immediately on acceptance.

How long it really takes

A typical NSW residential project runs two to six weeks from accepting your quote to switch-on. Most of that window is approvals, stock and scheduling - not the installation, which for most homes is completed in a single day. Batteries, three-phase systems and complex roofs can take longer on the day; grid approval delays or meter reconfiguration by your retailer can extend the overall timeline at either end.
